One of the best-selling standing desk converters currently available is the WorkFit-T by Ergotron. It is a very solid product. It is available at a competitive price with a wide adjustment range, good stability at all heights and a strong warranty. While it is one of the better standing desk converters I have tested, it does have some flaws that may make it a bad choice for some buyers. The standing desk converter market is extremely vast with a huge selection of products with varying designs and functions to choose from. Here is a list of good alternatives to the WorkFit-T.

The VertDesk Converter by BTOD.com is a nice alternative to the WorkFit-T because it is very similar but at a lower price, with a more forgiving return policy. Both products feature a double z lift base design with separate keyboard trays and monitor platforms that remain at a fixed height from each other. The WorkFit-T is designed to move straight up and down with the assistance of springs. The VertDesk Converter moves out as it is raised with the movement being assisted by gas lifts. Due to the arcing movement pattern on the VertDesk Converter, it is a bit more difficult to adjust from tall heights downward. The WorkFit-T has 20 different height positions, while the VertDesk Converter has infinite position lock. The VertDesk Converter has a larger keyboard tray and features adjustable keyboard tilt. The WorkFit-T features a larger monitor platform and a better design for using a laptop on the keyboard tray. The WorkFit-T also comes with a five year warranty compared to the two ear warranty on the VertDesk Converter.

The FlexiSpot M2 is another nice alternative to the WorkFit-T because it is very similar in terms of overall design and function. I t is also available at a lower price point with a more forgiving return policy. The FlexiSpot M2 does require a small amount of assembly, whereas the WorkFit-T arrives ready to go out of the box. The FlexiSpot M2 moves straight up and down like the WorkFit-T, but it uses a double x base with gas lifts instead of a double z shaped base with spring assistance, like the WorkFit-T. The design used by Ergotron produces a more stable product than the FlexiSpot M2. They both have about the same adjustment range but the WorkFit-T has 20 positions to choose from compared to 12 on the FlexiSpot M2.
Aside from price, the biggest area that the FlexiSpot M2 excels in, compared to the WorkFit-T, is the size of the monitor platform and keyboard tray. The FlexiSpot M2 offers a massive amount of task space and the keyboard tray is large enough for any keyboard you’d like to use. The WorkFit-T has a much smaller monitor platform due to the cut-out in the front. This cut-out makes the WorkFit-T better suited for using a laptop on the keyboard tray but you give up a lot of space in order to have this option. The keyboard tray on the WorkFit-T is among the smallest I have seen on a standing desk converter, which will limit you to compact keyboards for the optimal experience. The FlexiSpot M2 has a number of features that help to assist with wire management while the WorkFit-T does not have wire management tools.

The Cooper by Fully is the 3rd item on my list that comes in at a lower price point with a more favorable return policy. Ergotron does offer a better warranty though. You will get three additional years of coverage on the WorkFit-T. The Cooper’s overall design concept is similar to the WorkFit-T but it utilizes a single x base design, most commonly seen on an ironing board. The Cooper features an infinite locking gas cylinder with a wider adjustment range than the WorkFit-T. The Cooper is not limited to a preset number of positions like the WorkFit-T and it also features three additional inches of height adjustment. The single gas cylinder and additional height range make the Cooper a little more difficult to adjust at taller heights.
Similar to the FlexiSpot M2, the monitor platform and keyboard tray are much larger on the Cooper than the WorkFit-T. The lack of a cut-out in the monitor platform means that you have a lot more task space on the Cooper but it is not suited for laptop use on the keyboard tray. The keyboard tray’s large size will not restrict you like the WorkFit-T so you will be able to use any keyboard and mouse set-up you’d like. The Cooper does not have a built-in grommet mount like the WorkFit-T has for their Ergotron brand of monitor arms. You will need to use a clamp mount if you choose to add a monitor arm which may pose a problem for people using their converter against a wall. The final thing that sets the Cooper apart from the WorkFit-T is that the Cooper is one of very few standing desk converters that are available in a bamboo finish.

The Ergotron WorkFit-S is going to be the first item on my list that is higher in price than the WorkFit-T. The WorkFit-S is the high-end standing desk converter in the WorkFit family. The design is much different than the WorkFit-T. Instead of a two-tier design that rests on top of your desk, the WorkFit-S has a single column with a three-tier design that mounts to the front of your desk and tilts away from you. The WorkFit-S features a counterbalance system that allows for easy height adjustment without even pushing a button. Your monitor is mounted to the column with a VESA plate and is independently height adjustable. The monitor is also tilt adjustable and can rotate for different viewing positions. The keyboard tray has a large adjustment range and can go below your desk, providing a true ergonomic experience. The WorkFit-S requires a lot of assembly while the WorkFit-T arrives fully assembled. The WorkFit-T is the more stable product, while he WorkFit-S shows quite a bit more keyboard bounce.

The Duke VESA by BTOD.com is going to be the final item on my list of WorkFit-T alternatives. Similar to the WorkFit-S, the Duke VESA is going to be a higher quality product than the WorkFit-T, but it comes at a higher price, with assembly required. The Duke has a more forgiving return policy for people that may be on the fence about getting a standing desk converter. The Duke VESA is made in the USA and features a single column gas lift design that moves straight up and down. The Duke is dual ergonomic with infinite position lock on the keyboard tray and monitor. The Duke has a larger adjustment range and a slightly lower profile to your desk when in the seated position compared to the WorkFit-T. The WorkFit-T is going to be the better option for monitors over 24” and for laptop users. The WorkFit-T does not have any tools for wire management while the Duke VESA has a built-in wire management system.
Final Thoughts
The WorkFit-T has quickly become one of the most popular standing desk converters. It is made by a very reputable company, at an attractive price point and has some attractive features. But, it does have some drawbacks that may cause some customers to look for other options. There are a lot of alternatives and competitors to the WorkFit-T. Many of them feature similar designs with small differences in price or work surface size and shape. Others will feature completely different design choices with much larger differences, like dual ergonomics and keyboard trays that go below your desk.
