Testing at the top of nearly every comfort category, the Steelcase Leap v2 office chair is without question our most popular chair. Every Leap chair that we refurbish and sell comes with a height adjustable lumbar system. While some individuals love the lumbar system, some say it feels like it’s jabbing into their back. For most users this isn’t an issue and typically we only get complaints from users that don’t like pronounced lumbar support in general.

We have someone in our office that won’t sit in the Leap due to the pronounced lumbar support. We recommended that he remove the height-adjustable lumbar and then reduce the tension on the backrest. The results of these minor fixes were so significant that he now sits comfortably in a Leap v2 every day.
To remove the height-adjustable lumbar (see video below), slightly peel away the upholstery from the plastic on the back, right by the lumbar support. Then you can wedge your finger into the system to pop out the adjustable lumbar.
If you think your Leap v2 has an uncomfortable backrest, this is a very quick solution to make your sitting situation more comfortable.
