Gaming chairs are used widely among many individuals. Nothing has caught my attention more than the Embody Gaming Chair by Herman Miller. I have used the regular Embody office chair for months so I wanted to see what the gaming design has to offer. I eventually moved onto the Steelcase Leap.

1. First Experience in the Herman Miller Embody Gaming Chair
I started using the Embody gaming chair and my initial thoughts were great. As for looks, I think it’s the best-looking gaming chair on the market. It is a sharp, full black look with blue accents that make it stand out among other gaming chairs. There are added tags and logos to cater to the gamer community. I think Herman Miller did the right amount of upgrades from the regular Embody office chair without going overboard.

2. Seat Pad Difference
Next, the biggest difference between the regular Embody and the gaming Embody design is the seat. I really enjoy the seat on the regular Embody, I consider it top of the line. The only drawback would be the lack of flexibility compared to the Leap or Gesture office chairs.

The structure of the gaming Embody remains the same as the regular Embody so there is unfortunately no added flexibility. However, looking closer at the seat pad and fabric, you can see the pad on the gaming Embody is thicker which makes the seat itself much softer. The fabric also has a pattern that gives it added texture to make it feel thicker as well.

The seat depth adjustment is a bit clunky and not attractive on the gaming Embody, but it works like it should. One of the advantages of this chair is you don’t get a gap between the back and seat like the Haworth Fern.
3. Attractive Backrest Prevents Back Pain
Furthermore, the backrest stands out on the gaming Embody chair. I would say it is one of the most attractive features on the chair. The design is unique with the flexible plastic nodes that give you a massive range to move around. The skinny shape helps out too because it is less constrictive. This is a big difference between the Embody and the Aeron.

The only disadvantage I would say the Embody gaming chair has is a lack of lumbar support. The original Embody’s lumbar adjustment isn’t the greatest because you are able to feel the hard plastic, so I do appreciate the extra padding with the gaming chair.
I noticed with the gaming chair, it is much louder than the original due to the added fabric. It reminds me of a crunching sound and you can’t miss it. Some people might not be bothered by it, but others might get annoyed.
4. The Ultimate Recline Feature
Additionally, the Embody gaming chair features an amazing recline. Along with the Aeron and Mirra 2, all three chairs have a harmonic tilt mechanism. The recline is super deep with a wide range and incredibly smooth. The tension control comes in handy and dials in pretty easily to get the most comfortable recline. You get a variety of tilt limiter positions to accommodate your comfort all day.

There is also a tilt on the backrest so when you are playing an intense game, you are able to have it tilted up and then tilted back when watching YouTube videos or movies.
5. Long Lasting Arms
Importantly, the arms serve a great purpose for the Embody gaming chair. They are sturdy, strong and comfortable. They also have a bit more texture than the original Embody. The size and softness of the arm pads are main features that I believe make this chair special and perfect for gaming.

Not only are they comfortable, they have nice adjustability. The arms can be raised to be flush with a desk or completely lowered and out of the way. The big range can fit any individual’s preference. Unfortunately, the armrests don’t swivel or pivot, it is simply height adjustment. The gaming Aeron chair does in fact have the swivel and pivoting option which most people like.

A negative for the Embody is how clunky the arm adjustments can be. They make a noisy click and hard plastic sound when moved. It can get obnoxious for the average person.
6. Well Built Gaming Chair
Following the arms, the Embody gaming chair is well built and has advanced technology that you don’t see in other gaming chairs. The pixelated and node system on the back are specific to this chair. The quality components make this one of the best gaming chairs that will last for years and years.

Herman Miller is known to produce top quality chairs. Sadly, the newest release of the Herman Miller Vantum gaming chair did not live up to the standard. It didn’t feel like a normal Herman Miller product. The Embody is totally opposite and feels solid and high quality.
Bottom Line
Overall, if something should go wrong, this known brand offers a satisfying warranty. Your chair will be covered for 12 years. The best part is Herman Miller will cover everything to really protect your investment. I was pleased with how quickly I fell in love with the Embody gaming chair and how comfortable it was.
