Build Quality
The VertDesk Converter and FlexiSpot M2 are both made in China but they are also each on the higher-end of the Chinese made product spectrum when it comes to dual fixed platform converters. They are both nice looking products with strong metal and durable materials on the platforms. They both have a separate monitor platform and keyboard tray with a simple height adjustment. They both also operate smoothly with no awkward sounds.
While the products are similar, the core design is slightly different. The FlexiSpot M2 has a double x base design. The movement is assisted by gas lifts and the movement pattern is straight up and down. There are 12 different height positions to choose from. The VertDesk Converter features a z lift base in which the movement pattern moves the platforms out toward you when moving up. The lifting motion is assisted by gas lifts and the VertDesk Converter has infinite position lock, allowing you to choose any height you would like.
Each standing desk converter has a height adjustment feature that is controlled with two handles found on the undersides of the monitor platforms. The FlexiSpot M2 is very easy to operate but will get slightly more difficult when raising the unit to the tallest heights when it is fully loaded. The VertDesk Converter will be more difficult to adjust when moving from the highest position downward. Once it gets going, it is very easy to move but starting it will require a bit of effort.
Stability
The FlexiSpot M2 is a good product when it comes to stability. It does not struggle in any areas but it does not excel in any either. It performs pretty well in almost all stages of testing so it is consistent across the board. It took some deductions in the sitting categories because the unit does not lay flat with your desk when in the lowest position. This creates a bit of keyboard bounce and monitor shake when sitting. These characteristics are accentuated slightly when the unit is moved to standing height. The product also has a small amount of side to side wobble at sitting height that increases a little when standing.
The VertDesk Converter excels in almost every stability category and is among the most stable standing desk converters I have tested so far. The unit is very solid at sitting height and stays that way all the way to full standing height.

Ergonomics
Dual ergonomics means that you can adjust the height of your monitor and keyboard separately. This allows you to have the proper ergonomic keyboard height and ergonomic monitor viewing angle. Neither product has dual ergonomics out of the box. They each feature a keyboard tray and monitor platform that are attached at a fixed distance from each other. Both products are capable of accepting a monitor arm that can be attached to the monitor platform. Adding a monitor arm will give you the ability to adjust the monitor to a different height than the fixed distance would normally restrict you to.
When in the lowest position, the FlexiSpot M2’s keyboard tray will increase the height of your desk by an inch. The VertDesk Converter’s tray will increase your desk height by just under an inch. Both products will have an effect on your normal typing posture since the height of your desk will be increased. The VertDesk Converter’s keyboard tray adjusts as high as 14.75” while the Flexi Spot’s goes as high as 15”. Both products will provide an ergonomic typing height for people around 6’1”.
The VertDesk Converter has a keyboard tray with adjustable tilt. The range is about negative 10° to positive 10°. The keyboard tray tilt cannot be used when sitting because you will have your keyboard tray flat on your desk.
The recommended monitor viewing distance for an ergonomic posture is somewhere between 20”-40”. Both products will be within this range. The VertDesk Converter will be on the closer side of the recommended range while the FlexiSpot M2 will be on the farther side of the recommended range.

Task Space
The FlexiSpot M2 has one of the largest tasking areas on a standing desk converter. The worksurface is a large rectangular platform with a curved edge in the back. The monitor platform can easily fit dual monitors with several other accessories. This is one of the few units I have tested that has enough space to comfortably fit full notebooks or catalogues. There are no cut-outs in the front of the unit. There is also a small grommet hole in the back of the monitor platform that can be used to mount FlexiSpot brand monitor arms.
The VertDesk Converter features a wide, rectangular shaped work surface but it is not as deep as the FlexiSpot’s. Dual monitors will fit comfortably on the monitor platform. You will have additional space for things like your phone, a note pad or other small objects. The VertDesk Converter also features a standard grommet mount at the back center of the monitor platform which allows you to use most brands of monitor arms.
Keyboard Tray
The keyboard set-up differs quite a bit on these two models. Both keyboard trays are about 13” deep but the FlexiSpot M2’s tray is much wider. FlexiSpot’s tray is also out and away from the base, with nothing restricting your hands. The M2’s tray is just as wide as the monitor platform, which is 35”. I had no problem using my ergonomic keyboard and it is very large.
The VertDesk Converter has a much smaller keyboard tray at around 26” wide. The VertDesk Converter’s tray is placed in between the front legs of the base. It was uncomfortable to use my ergonomic keyboard. The size of the keyboard left little space for my mouse so my mouse hand was hitting the leg of the base pretty often. I switched to a standard sized keyboard and didn’t have the problem anymore.
The VertDesk Converter has adjustable keyboard tilt. The keyboard tray is permanently attached to the underside of the monitor platform with screws that allow the tray to tilt. There is a screw on the right side of the keyboard tray with a hand knob. Loosening the knob will allow the keyboard tray to tilt up or down. Tightening the knob will lock the keyboard tray in place. There is a plastic clip attached to the back of the keyboard tray to keep your mouse from sliding off the front of the tray if you like to use it in a negative tilt position. The clip can be moved to the left side for left-handed users.
Wire Management
The FlexiSpot M2 has a few tools to assist you with wire management. They include a handful of adhesive backed clips that can be attached to the underside of the monitor platform. These can help to organize wires coming from the keyboard tray. The final tool on the FlexiSpot M2 is the curved back edge of the monitor platform. This allows you to have the unit up to a wall while still being able to run cords off the back of the monitor platform.
The VertDesk Converter does not come with the same type of wire management tools as the FlexiSpot M2. The only tool will be the grommet mount on the monitor platform. This can be used to run cords from the monitor platform and will be best used with dual monitors.
Safety
I am not concerned with the safety on either unit. They both pose the normal risks we would see with a few pinch points due to the x and z shaped base designs. Both products do a nice job minimizing the size of the pinch points and they are clearly marked with warning labels.
Bottom Line
The VertDesk Converter and FlexiSpot ClassicRiser M2 are two products that are currently offering a ton of value with prices below $500. Both are well-rounded products with slight differences that may sway your buying decision one way or the other.
The VertDesk Converter arrives fully assembled and is the more stable product at all heights. It also has keyboard tray tilt and infinite position lock to give it the edge in the ergonomics department. The FlexiSpot M2 has a better wire management system, a larger work surface and more spacious keyboard tray.
