8 Things To Consider When Buying L Shaped Desks
1. Color Matching
Depending on your office space, color matching could be a big problem if not done before receiving the product. With expensive shipping and potential for brands to not allow returns, you definitely want to figure this out before placing an order.
While an image might be taken and the color done perfectly, most monitor settings will be different. This opens the door for slight color variations to throw everything off. Not only that, but the lighting in an office space can have a major impact as well.
Another problem our customers have had is when mixing and matching components from different manufacturers. Products could potentially have the same color name or look similar, but end up being different once you receive them. You want to always order color swatches prior to placing the final order to avoid this costly mistake.
2. Size Of The Space Desk Will Be Going
This might sound crazy, but have you considered if the desk will fit? It’s a problem that happens far too often.
How big is the space where you will be putting your new desk? Have you measured to make sure that not only the desk fits, but you’ll be able to move around in a chair as well? Once you find out how a desk ships, it’s important to consider how you can accept delivery. If the desk has to ship with a freight carrier (semi-truck), how will you get the item(s) off the truck? Back of truck delivery is the typical solution for most vendors. This requires you to pull the items off the back of the semi’s trailer.
If you’re not comfortable with the back of the truck deliveries, you’ll want to add a lift gate service. This service has additional costs, but provides a platform to lower the pallet or cartons to the ground level. From here you would be responsible for moving the items into the home or business.
Most freight carriers will also offer inside delivery services for additional fees as well. These are barebone services, with delivery only into the first dry threshold of a commercial building or the garage of a residence. If there are steps, most carriers will not perform the inside delivery.
